What is Science Olympiad?
For the past 31 years, Science Olympiad has led a revolution in science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premiere science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to nearly 7,000 teams in 50 states. Science Olympiad's ever-changing line-up of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and career choices, and energizes classroom teachers with a dynamic content experience.
About Hawaiʻi Regional Science Olympiad 2015
The 2015 Hawaiʻi Regional Science Olympiad Tournament took place at UH Hilo campus from 8 am – 3pm on Saturday, January 31st. One hundred competitors from two (2) Division B and five (5) Division C teams representing middle & high school campuses of Hawaiʻi Island. Participants engaged in 25 events, which took place across the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo campus, focused in assessing each team’s abilities in a variety of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) disciplines. Division B (middle school) teams included: Hilo Intermediate and Konawaena Middle schools; while Hilo High, Keaʻau High, Kealakehe, West Hawaiʻi Explorations Academy and the Hawaiian Classical Christian Academy made up the Division C (high school) competition.
